A theme park in Japan is fitting visitors with “bomb collars” and having them compete in a battle royale-style challenge.

Japan is no stranger to creating unique and eye-catching immersive experiences for adrenaline junkies and anime fans. Back in February, the country opened a viral samurai park where visitors could walk around a full-scale movie set and take part in “adults only” events.

However, the latest attraction to catch our attention is one that involves a nightmarish challenge inspired by Netflix’s popular battle royale series, Alice in Borderland. And just like the show, all participants must wear the series signature explosive collars.

Alice in Borderland gets immersive experience

According to the Alice in Borderland: Immersive Death Game webpage, visitors will be fitted with the show’s collar and then must compete in a 30-minute “Hearts Game” where they’ll need to betray those around them to be crowned the winner and release their collar.

While we don’t know what this particular Hearts Game entails, thanks to the series, we know that these games often revolve around betrayal, twisted rules, and heartbreaking moments (we still don’t talk about that one episode in Season 1).

The attraction even promises to recreate this by offering “unfair rules, relentless tension, and a countdown that never stops,” you know, all the things you’d expect from a jolly old death game.

However, unlike the series’ deadly collars, these replicas won’t actually explode (always a good thing), but the site states there’s an electric current running through them.

Exactly how the collar’s electric current is used hasn’t been explained, but Huis Ten Bosch has barred anyone under 15, as well as guests with medical electrical devices such as pacemakers from participating.

If you’re still not put off by any of the above, happen to be in Japan from August 27, and want to experience your very own IRL Alice in Borderland experience, then you can do just that by taking a trip to Huis Ten Bosch amusement park in Nagasaki Prefecture.
