A team of Opposition Parliamentarians lead by Namal Rajapaksa unveiled a new political initiative, 'A Team – Next Wave', on Tuesday designed to consolidate opposition voices from inside and outside the Legislature.

The new platform was launched by MPs Namal Rajapaksa, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Anuradha Jayaratne, D. V. Chanaka, and Chanaka Madugoda.

They noted that 'A Team – Next Wave' will work alongside Opposition MPs as well as political organisations and independent groups without parliamentary representation to highlight public concerns and address key national issues.

They added that the initiative is designed to create a space for constructive engagement among opposition forces while promoting collaboration on matters of national importance.

The group intends to collaborate with other opposition members and movements to spotlight public grievances and confront urgent national issues.

According to the organisers, the project seeks to build a cohesive alliance capable of addressing economic struggles, high living costs, taxation, and the specific difficulties faced by farmers, fishermen, graduates, and youth.

By fostering constructive engagement among diverse factions, the founders hope to assemble a skilled team to offer alternative policy solutions and represent public interests more effectively.

They expressed confidence that a stronger and more coordinated opposition would be better positioned to represent public concerns and offer alternative policy solutions to the country's current challenges.
