The Colombo Fort Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department today (8) to report the progress of investigations into the fraudulent disposal of $ 2.5 million in state funds belonging to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on 05 August.
The case was called up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today.
The Criminal Investigation Department, making submissions before the court, stated that hard drives containing 16 terabytes of computer data recovered in connection with this investigation were forwarded to the University of Colombo for further investigation.
Officials of the Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that the relevant reports had not been received yet.
The Criminal Investigation Department also noted that the Government Analyst's reports regarding this incident had not been received yet.
The Magistrate, after considering the submissions, ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to report the progress of these investigations on 05 August.
