Gothatuwa residents fined over Rs.6mn within a week

Fines amounting to 617,000 rupees were imposed this week on 50 individuals charged for not taking action to destroy mosquito breeding grounds.

Gothatuwa Public Health Inspectors stated that the fines were imposed on these individuals following their arrests during raids conducted within the Gothatuwa jurisdiction this month. The arrested were imposed with fines when produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.

Colombo Additional Magistrate H. D. Darshima Premaratne imposed these fines.

Public Health Inspectors stated that raids to locate dengue mosquito breeding sites will continue.
