The oldest woman in Sri Lanka, Punchage Kalu Manika, a resident of D.S. Senanayake Mawatha, Sangilikanadarawa in Rambewa, ended her long life journey.

A beloved mother, Kalu Manika was 114-years-old at the time of her passing, which occurred two days ago in the morning hours.

Witnessing numerous social changes in the country across nearly a century and a half, her departure brought deep sorrow to the entire region.

A fortunate and courageous mother, Kalu Manika gave birth to 12 children.

She held the rare fortune of seeing up to her fifth generation during her lifetime.

She was fortunate to live with over 325 members of her massive family, including her children and grandchildren, and spent her final days surrounded with their affection.
