Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya yesterday (15) met with the current Amir of Qatar to express the condolences of the Sri Lankan government and its people over the demise of the late Father Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The Prime Minister visited the Lusail Palace in Doha today to express her grief over the passing of the former Amir.
She was received by Qatar's Minister of Interior, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, before meeting with the Amir of the State of Qatar, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The Prime Minister's Media Division stated that the official meeting was attended by the Deputy Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and the Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, alongside high-ranking representatives of the royal family, the sons of the late former Amir, and members of the royal family.
