A business owner in Colombo received a Rs. 50,000 fine today (16) for displaying electrical appliances for sale without issuing a warranty card.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Darshima Premaratne issued the order.
The fine was imposed on the owner of a private business located at No. 1, Baseline Road.
Officers from the Consumer Affairs Authority discovered the appliances offered for sale without warranties during a raid.
