President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that attention should be focused on strengthening the vocational education sector in line with the new education reforms.

The President made these remarks yesterday (17) at the Presidential Secretariat while participating in the progress review of projects implemented under the 2026 budget allocations for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the 2027 pre-budget discussion.

The government is prepared to allocate the necessary funds for vocational education from this budget, the President said.

It was also revealed at the meeting that a sum of eight billion rupees is allocated for vocational education within this year.
