More than 1,500 people lost their lives in road incident so far this year, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic Control and Road Safety W. P. J. Senadheera states.

Driving a vehicle without a valid driving licence as well as providing a vehicle to such a person, constitutes a punishable offence, the Deputy Inspector General further notes whilst expressing views to the media.
