Badulla High Court Judge Jeyaram Trotsky found Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri and his driver Bandula Rathnayake guilty of four charges, while ministerial security police officer Rasika Karunatilake was found guilty of three charges regarding wrongful restraint and threatening two police officers.

Court proceedings revealed that driver Bandula Rathnayake passed away, and sentencing is set for today (28).

The case stems from an incident on or around February 10, 2019, near the Bandarawela town roundabout, where an argument erupted after a police jeep overtook vehicles carrying parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri and his associates.

Prosecutors stated that the former parliamentarian and his group blocked the path of the police jeep that passed them and threatened the officers on duty.
