Economic plans for the upcoming year are being formulated to reduce recurrent expenditure, which currently stands at nine percent, while raising capital expenditure to four percent, said President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

He made this remark while joining the Galle District Coordinating Committee meeting held yesterday (28) at the Galle District Secretariat.

Plans are underway to allocate two trillion rupees as capital expenditure for the year 2027, which is approximately a 40 percent increase, President Dissanayake pointed out.

Furthermore, the President emphasised that the expectation is to channel every rupee received by the treasury toward the development of the country.

Government aims to build a country with financial discipline where future generations do not have to pay off debts, the President said during the meeting, the President's Media Division mentioned in the press statement.
