A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 412 helicopter and drones have been deployed to monitor the tense situation at the Mahara Prison premises and ensure security, according to the Air Force spokesperson.
One person died and six others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital due to the unrest and a fire that broke out in a building within the Mahara Prison premises this afternoon (01).
Steps have been taken to tighten security inside and outside the prison by deploying the police, the Police Special Task Force, and Air Force surveillance aircraft.
