Police requested the public using the Colombo-Kandy road to use alternative routes due to the closure of the road from the Kadugannawa area.
The section between Ganethenna and Kadugannawa on the Kandy-Colombo road was temporarily closed at 3 p.m. today because a rock fall occurred in the Pahala Kadugannawa area owing to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
The Police Media Division today (03) requested drivers travelling on the road to immediately use alternative routes due to this road obstruction belonging to the Mawanella police division.
Accordingly, police state that vehicles travelling from the Colombo side towards the Kandy side can travel to Kandy via Rambukkana Hatharaliyadda.
In addition, alternative routes were also introduced for vehicles travelling from the Kandy side towards the Colombo side, and accordingly, the Police Media Division mentioned that those vehicles can travel via Pilimathalawa, Poththapitiya to Thismadala and via Katugastota to Kurunegala.
