The Department of Meteorology forecasts that wind speeds in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Chilaw via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota may increase up to 50–60 km/h at times, and these sea areas may become rough at times.

It is also stated that there is a possibility that swell waves may rise to about 2.0–2.5 metres in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Matara.

Therefore, the Department requests the fishing and naval communities to remain vigilant regarding this matter.
