Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says the country's people are utterly helpless today, and the current government is wallowing, unable to bring prosperity to the country, as it deceived, misled, and duped the entire nation with false promises to take power.

Joining a public meeting held in the Poonewa area of the Medawachchiya constituency in the Anuradhapura District aimed at promoting Samagi Jana Balawegaya members, Premadasa states that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya acts as the alternative government to ensure the people's right to live, a right this government stripped away.

Premadasa states that agriculture is destroyed today, and despite claims of strengthening agriculture, no formal solution exists for crop damage, property damage, or the human-elephant conflict, marking an era where the rights of the people as a whole face destruction.

The Opposition Leader states that a programme creating jobs for the young generation, fostering new entrepreneurs, and fulfilling youth dreams is needed, alongside a national programme protecting vulnerable groups in society, mothers, and children.

Premadasa says a government Department of Census and Statistics census indicates 17,000 rupees is sufficient for one person to live for 30 days, a figure the government agreed with and now bases its actions upon. The government formulates national policies and economic policies based on these data and cuts even Aswesuma, making austerity the current government policy.

The Opposition Leader further states that the government possesses no answers to the people's problems today, and despite fairy tales told to grab power, everything remains limited to mere talk.

The wealthy elite rule forever, while leaders behave according to lumpen capitalism, turning the government into puppets of notorious billionaires.
