President Anura Kumara Dissanayake called on the Chief Prelates of the Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters and received their blessings yesterday afternoon (27) during his visit to Kandy for the annual Esala festival of the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The President, who arrived in Kandy to participate in the Esala procession, first paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth.
He subsequently called on the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera, Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter, and received his blessings.
President Dissanayake also called on the Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Anunayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter and engaged in a brief conversation with the Thera.
Later, the President visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya, where he inquired about the well-being of the Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayake Thera, Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter, and held a brief conversation with him.
