A tense situation has been brewing for several days between three-wheeler drivers and taxi drivers in Welimada town.
Taxi drivers state that when they arrive for hires booked by passengers, certain three-wheeler drivers threaten them and attempt to assault them.
Following complaints received regarding the matter, the Welimada Police intervened and held discussions between the two parties to reach a settlement.
However, it is reported that even after the police intervention, tense situations continue to arise intermittently between both sides.
There remains a need for both parties to act towards resolving this transport service issue peacefully.
