A new alliance was formed in Colombo today to safeguard the rights of estate workers.

This was with the participation of political party representatives and members of 16 estate workers unions.

However, this alliance will work against the Ceylon Workers Congress and the Ceylon National estate Workers union which signed a collective agreement with the estate owners union.

Several matters of importance including salary anomalies of estate workers were taken up for discussion.

Secretary of the Nawa Samasamaja Party Dr Wickremebahu Karunarathne expressed these views.
