Navy says there is no threat to the lives of the staff of the Panama ship which caught fire in the South Coast Sea.
Nine ships including several fast attack ships have been utilized by the Navy for the rescue mission.

Meanwhile, according to the Media Spokesperson of Navy, Lieutenant Commander Chaminda Walakuluge 4 Tug ships of the Port Authority have also been employed.

In addition, he remarked that the ship which caught fire distant to the shore by 120 miles to the South Coast Sea has been brought 9 miles near the shore and has been kept anchored.

A ship has caught fire in the seas of South Coast, Colombo.

The Panama flagged ship is now brought to close proximity of 10 nautical miles as extinguishing operations are underway.
