It was revealed at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that Arjun Aloysius knew internal secret information clearly, relating to the controversial bond issuance.

It came to light when the retrieved phone conversations of the Perpetual Treasuries Limited were played at the Commission today (06).

The security at the Commission premises has been increased at the request of the Commission, citing that the investigation is reaching its final stages.

With the intervention of the Sri Lanka Army, a special safe was placed within the premises to safeguard the vital documents of the Commission.

When the Chief Dealer of the PTL Nuwan Salgado was testifying, the AG Department played a recorded discussion he had with PTL CEO, Kasun Palisena.

In that Kasun Palisena was instructing Salgado to obtain a document containing his statement given to the COPE, from Arjun Aloysius to be handed over to the CBSL Governor.

The witness told the Commission that the relevant document has been given to Arjun Aloysius by the son of the then COPE member Rosy Senanayake, Kanishka Senanayake,

The phone conversations between Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena, which had taken place on 29th of March, 2016 were played at the Commission.

The CBSL bond issue on that date is also considered as a controversial one.

It revealed that Arjun Aloysius was advising Kasun Palisena on the bid amounts and interest rates to be placed for the bond issue of that particular day.

Here, Arjun Aloysius told with great confidence that his powerful friend had asked him to put bids for a definite interest rate.

At this point, when the AG Department asked Salgado, who that powerful friend was, he said the final rate is decided by the Central Bank Governor.

The witness further said those days, the father-in-law of Arjun Aloysius, Arjun Mahendran was served as the Governor of the CBSL.

Supreme Court Judge, Prasanna Jayawardena quoting the phone conversations, said that Arjun Aloysius exactly knew the amounts of bids to be placed by the National Savings Bank, EPF and other state entities.

The AG Department also informed the Commission that the Perpetual Treasuries Limited had earned a huge profit of 11 billion rupees in 2015 and 2016.

The AG Department also informed the Commission that Arjun Aloysius had been issued notices to give a statement to the CID unit of the Commission and they are still unable to hand over the notice as the whereabouts of Arjun Aloysius are not known.

The Commission then requested the attorney appearing for Aloysius to help in locating him and provide the numbers of his Australian and Sri Lankan passports.
