138 killed in 6 explosions across the country;475 injured

138 persons have been killed in 6 explosions in different parts of the country.

Over 475 persons are reportedly injured in the explosions.

Bodies of 40 persons are placed at the Colombo National Hospital while 62 bodies are placed at the Negombo hospital and 27 at the Batticaloa hospital.

Explosions occurred at the St Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade, Zeon Church in Batticaloa and Katuwapitiya church in Katana.

Explosions were also reported in the premises of Shangri La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand hotels in Colombo.

290 injured persons were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, 110 have been admitted to Negombo and 75 have been admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.

Meanwhile, Negombo hospital urgently requests for blood for those who were injured in explosions.

Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Sumith Athapaththu meanwhile, requested the public to refrain from visiting the explosion sites.
