Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam stated that the percentage of students who excelled in GCE O/level last year is higher than that of previous years.

He quoted the Examination Commissioner as saying the percentage of students who passed mathematics is also at a higher level.

Anuki Chamathka Pasquel of Visakha Vidyalaya was placed 1st, while S M Munasinghe of Mahamaya Vidyalaya in Kandy was placed 2nd.

Sugath Ravindu Sanwara of Ananda College and Dimuth Oshadhi Mirissage from Matara Rahula Vidyalaya shared 3rd place

Examinations Commissioner General W M N J Pushpakumara stated that applications for re-correction should be made before the 30th of April.
