Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Professor Mohan De Silva’s request to return to work has been rejected by the University Joint Trade Unions Committee.
Co-Chairman of the Committee, Edward Malwaththage said that no solutions were received for their problems.
18 days have elapsed since the start of the strike action.
Meanwhile, the Convener of the Inter University Students' Federation, Lahiru Weerasekara said that protests will be held in support of the strike action by university non-academic staff, with the participation of the university students in the next few days.
