Kings XI Punjab have replaced the injured Shaun Marsh with South African batsman Hashim Amla for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2016.
Marsh was earlier ruled out of the tournament with a back injury which he initially picked up in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19. He carried on playing with a niggle and aggravated it after featuring in Kings XI's victory over Gujarat Lions on Sunday (May 1).
Amla, who averages 31.35 with a strike rate of 125.95 in Twenty20 cricket, has never featured in the IPL before. He had a base price of INR 1 crore in the auction earlier this year and was unsold.
The 33-year-old's recent form in the format forced South Africa to accommodate him as an opener and push AB de Villiers down the order in the recently concluded World T20. He scored 120 runs in the tournament in four matches with a strike rate of 134.83.
