Jake Ball, Nottinghamshire seam bowler and James Vince, Hampshire middle-order batsman, are the two uncapped players in England's 12-man squad for the First Test match against Sri Lanka, beginning on May 19 (Thursday) at Headingley.
The 25-year old Ball has enjoyed a strong start in the County Championship and is the joint leading wicket-taker in the first division, having claimed 19 wickets at an impressive average of 21.15. The strapping right-arm fast pacer was a part of the England Lions team during their winter tour of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and also spent time at the fast bowling camp in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
25-year old Vince, who is also Hampshire's captain, is in line to make his Test debut, replacing the retired, James Taylor, and will be looking forward to adding to his four One Day International (ODI) and four T20 International caps. The right-handed middle-order batsman is in the midst of strong domestic form, having averaged 44.50 in the County Championship. It included a superb 119 against defending champions Yorkshire at Headingley last month.
