US President Barack Obama has urged the US to "reject despair" as he paid tribute to five police officers killed during a deadly sniper attack in Dallas.

Micah Johnson who killed the Dallas officers had said that he was angry about the shootings on African Americans.

Meanwhile, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, had a far different message than President Barack Obama, who last week said the country isn't "as divided as some have suggested."

Trump countered that "it's far worse, and certainly far worse than President Obama believes it is."

Earlier Monday, Trump delivering a speech touched on the violence, offering his support to law enforcement in the wake of the Dallas shooting.
