A heated atmosphere has been created near Kolonnawa petroleum warehouse complex due to an argument took place between the petroleum strikers and the security forces.

It is reported that this situation has arisen when the security forces tried to remove a group of workers who stayed near the warehouse complex.

Police riot control unit plus its vehicles have been later deployed in order to control the protestors.

Security forces voice that ten individuals were arrested, and according to the Media Spokesman, 15 bowsers filled with fuel have been sent out from the warehouse complex for distribution.

The Petroleum workers commenced the strike on the day before yesterday mid night demanding the fuel tank complex in Trincomalee Port to be transferred under the administration of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, demanding the fuel tank complex in Hambantota Port to be transferred under the administration of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, and demanding to modernize Sapugaskanda oil refinery as soon as possible.
