CEB+trade+unions+threaten+islandwide+blackout
The Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance announces that an islandwide strike will be launched after November 3, imposing a blackout in the entire country.

Alliance convener Ranjan Jayalal told a media briefing in Colombo yesterday that the strike was being carried out to force the government to withdraw the agreement signed to hand over part of the Yugadanavi power plant to an American company.

He also stated that on 03 November, all CEB employees islandwide will come to Colombo and engage in a massive protest.

It is also planned to hold protests in front of 19 offices of the Deputy General Manager of the CEB covering the entire island tomorrow from 12:00 p.m.

Accordingly, protests will be held in 19 areas including Kuliyapitiya, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Tangalle, Galle, Ratnapura, Badulla, Trincomalee and Kiribathgoda tomorrow.
