Australia 213 for 7 (Warner 70, David 37*) beat West Indies 202 for 8 (King 53, Charles 42, Zampa 3-26) by 11 runs

In the series-opener at Bellerive Oval, Australia beat West Indies by by 11 runs led by David Warner's explosive half-century in his 100th T20I appearance, followed by an impressive bowling display from legspinner Adam Zampa. Despite a strong challenge from a full-strength West Indies side, Australia managed to secure a victory, setting the stage for an exciting series.

Warner's aggressive knock of 70 runs off just 36 deliveries set the tone for Australia's innings, supported by Tim David's quickfire 37 off 17 balls. Chasing a target of 214 runs, West Indies got off to a flying start with Brandon King and Johnson Charles forming a rapid half-century partnership within four overs. However, Zampa's exceptional bowling in the middle overs proved crucial in stifling West Indies' momentum and restricting their chase.

The match also marked the T20 World Cup preparations for both teams, with Warner reaffirming his position as a key player for Australia in the tournament.

Despite a spirited fightback from West Indies' seamers, who utilized slower deliveries effectively, Australia's big-hitters managed to capitalize on the faster surface, finishing their innings with a flurry of runs. West Indies, bolstered by the return of King and Charles, displayed aggression in their batting approach but faltered in the face of Australia's disciplined bowling attack.

Zampa emerged as the standout performer for Australia, claiming three crucial wickets in the 16th over to derail West Indies' chase.
