A 19-year-old girlfriend stands accused of attacking her 22-year-old boyfriend with a knife. The altercation, which took a violent turn, has left the victim hospitalized.

According to reports, the relationship between the young couple, spanning one and a half years, took a tumultuous turn when the boyfriend expressed his desire to end the relationship. This decision reportedly led to tensions between the two, exacerbated by the girlfriend's reluctance to accept the breakup.

The situation escalated when the girlfriend, accompanied by her brother and mother, confronted the boyfriend at the Gampola fish market. An argument ensued, culminating in a tragic turn of events as the girlfriend allegedly resorted to violence, stabbing her boyfriend with a knife.

The severity of the attack necessitated the victim's admission to the intensive care unit for medical treatment. Fortunately, he is now undergoing further treatment in a general ward.

In the aftermath of the altercation, law enforcement arrested the girlfriend. She has since been remanded until the 22nd pending further legal proceedings.
