Taylor Swift's attendance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday was always going to hog the headlines.
The world's biggest pop star flew back from her 'Eras' tour in Tokyo on Saturday to watch boyfriend and Kansas City star Travis Kelce in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.
And in overtime the Chiefs duly won a dogfight in the desert with Swift's every reaction gobbled up by a hungry press pack.
Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce lifted the covted Super Bowl 58 trophy as his side defeated San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling encounter on Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs won the cntest with a 3-yard touchdown by Mecole Hardman from a Patrick Mahomes throw just moments before the conclusion of the game.
As Kelce was interviewed with the Lombardi trophy at the end, Swift stood back, allowing him to take the limelight before sharing an embrace - a moment that would be captured around the world.
Ever since whispers of their relationship emerged in September, a whole new legion of fans has tuned in to American football.
For some, it has been the perfect way to introduce an avalanche of newcomers to the National Football League.
For others, it has been a sideshow that has only detracted from the real stories on the football field.
As a reslt of the Chiefs' Super Bowl triumph, the NFL star Kelce lived up to a promise he had made girlfriend Taylor Swift when the latter had won her fourth career Grammy.
Speaking after the Chiefs' heroic win, Kelce said that he never had any doubts over his team's victory, as they have some of the best players in the league.
"Never a doubt in my mind. We've got the best quarterback in the league, we've got the best offensive line in the league, and we've got the most determination out of any team in the NFL and you saw all that tonight," Kelce said after the game.
"I guess at this point I take it for granted, but I know we're in every single game I've ever played in, no matter what the score is or no matter how much time is left, that guy's got magic in his right arm," Kelce said.
Taylor swift was constantly in the spotlight during the Super Bowl match and Kelce didn't shy away from mentioninig her in his victory speech. In fact, the 34-year-old also dedicated the victory to her while also living up to the 'promise' he had made.
After Swift had earned her 4th career Grammy, Kelce said that he would "have to hold up his end of the bargain and bring home some hardware, too."
With the Chiefs' Super Bowl win, Kelce fulfilled the promise he had made.
"I'm going to go ahead and enjoy this and everything that just happened," he said. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I've been able to go through three times now. It gets sweeter and sweeter every time," Kelce added.
