The Special Task Force (STF) has initiated an operation in the vicinity of Jalthara in Hanwella to rescue two children reportedly held hostage by their father, as confirmed by the police.

According to authorities, the father has allegedly taken his children captive amid a family dispute and has threatened to use a hand grenade.

The STF, renowned for its swift and tactical response to such situations, has been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the children and to defuse the potentially dangerous situation.

According to reports from our correspondent on the scene, a man has taken his two children hostage after entering the premises with a hand grenade, allegedly motivated by a dispute with his wife.

The suspect's wife managed to escape from the house after the man entered carrying the hand grenade, narrowly avoiding harm.

At present, the man is reported to be holding his children captive, and law enforcement agencies have swiftly mobilized to rescue the children from the precarious situation.
