South Asia's fastest man, Yupun Abeykoon, has secured first place in the heats with a season's best time of 10.15 seconds at the 26th International Athletics Meeting Anhalt 2024. This impressive performance sets the stage for the finals, which are scheduled for 11:25 PM today, May 24. All eyes are on Abeykoon as he continues to improve his timing with every race.

Abeykoon, who represented Sri Lanka at the 2021 Olympics, has previously recorded a historic time of 9.96 seconds, breaking his own record of 10.06 seconds set at the International Athletics Meeting Anhalt 2022 in Germany. With this achievement, he became the first South Asian athlete to finish a 100-meter sprint in under 10 seconds.

As the finals approach, anticipation builds around Abeykoon’s potential to further his remarkable track record and possibly set new benchmarks in the world of athletics.
