Safe sex reduces the risk of HIV/AIDS, says MoH

According to statistics of National STD/AIDS control unit, 225 people have identified to be HIV positive in 2015.

Among them are 27 pregnant women and 27 other people among 15 to 23 years.

Director of National STD/AIDS control unit, Dr. Sisira Liyanage says that Sri Lanka exhibits a gradual rise in HIV/AIDS statistics in past few years.

Ministry of Health emphasizes that avoiding casual sex and unsafe sexual practices can reduce the risk of spreading HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.

It was further said that sticking to one partner can reduce the risk of having all STIs, including HIV/AIDS.
