An unidentified animal was found in the Sinharaja forest and it was subjected to genetic analysis.

Wildlife Ministry said that the animal was found at a place between Waddagala and Pothupitiya.

The animal looks like a Palm Civet (Uguduwa) but does not have a tail and possesses purple fur. Wildlife officials confirmed that the animal differed from the species.

The animal weighs three kilos and 300 grams it is about 60 centimeters long.
