Another landslide occurs at Aranayake

Reports indicated that a fresh landslide has occurred at Kabaragala Kanda in Aranayake today.

When enquired by our news team, the Disaster Management Centre noted that they too have been informed concerning the matter.

However, a resident of the area told our news team that the residents of the relevant area have been evacuated prior to the landslide.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation says that the water level of Kelani River is receding gradually.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, the Director General of the irrigation Department Saman Weerasinghe noted that they expect the prevailing floods to subside in several days.
