The Meteorology Department forecast thundershowers throughout the island tonight as well.

It stated that the existing low-pressure situation in the Bay of Bengal has been developing into a depression.

Meanwhile, a Director of the Irrigation Department Mala Alawathugoda stated that people living in the low lying areas of the Kelani and Kalu rivers should take caution as minor flood levels still remain in the two rivers.

In addition, the red alert issued for Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Nuwara Eliya remain.

Meanwhile, the Road Development Authority states that the endangered bridge on the Kelani River at Kaduwela will be closed for vehicular traffic from 8 pm to 6 am tomorrow.

Traffic on the bridge was limited following the river banks near the bridge eroded alarmingly yesterday.

However, alternative measures have been taken to construct a temporary iron bridge over the river.

The Road Development Authority stated that the new iron bridge will be opened for traffic by tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre stated that the adverse weather has hit 19 districts affecting 125,954 people.

It also said that 13 persons have died due to weather-related incidents so far.
