Rise of Dengue risk as Northeastern monsoon activating

The Health Ministry stated that there is a risk of spreading dengue as Northeastern monsoon is activating these days.

The Inter Departmental Committee to prevent dengue presided by Health Ministry Secretary Nihal Jayatilaka met in Colombo today in order to discuss dengue preventive measures.

Accordingly the Committee decided to declare a 2-week national mosquito preventive campaign soon.

Meanwhile the Ministry Secretary has instructed authorities to check all building construction sites in the city and other areas of the Western Province for dengue breeding grounds.
