A 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck southern part of Taiwan early this morning killed five and over 100 people are feared to be trapped under the debris.
The quake hit Taiwan’s Tainan Citty toppling a 17-storey apartment building. According to emergency response center in the country, among the dead is an infant. It further said over 150 people were hospitalized.
Security forces were able to extract over 220 people, who were still in shock, from under the rubble.
Foreign reports say the quake struck at 3.57 am this morning and has maximum impact on the area as it was very shallow with about six miles underground.
