A crocodile of more than 15ft in length has been caught by the villagers in Thibbotuwawa in Akuressa and has been given to the custody of Wildlife Conservation Department.
The giant crocodole has been caught from a tea estate in the area.
A tea leaves-plucking woman has come across this creature yesterday and has informed the others in the village.
According to our correspondent, the creature has been caught after conducting a joint mission by the Wildlife officials and the villagers for more than two hours.
Our correspondent further said that the Wldlife officials took the crocodile with them in order to release it to a water way.
It is believed that this crocodile has come to the land with the floods prevailed recently and has lost its way back.
