The Army headquarters announced that with the end of the General Amnesty, law enforcement authorities will begin island-wide operations to apprehend military deserters.
The General Amnesty extended to Army absentees ended at midnight, yesterday (23).
The Army Media Spokesperson Major General Roshan Seneviratne said a total of 11,358 Army deserters had reported to their respective Regiments seeking legal discharge during the General Amnesty period.
