Kurunegala – lockdowns in several areas
Six workers of the Kurunegala Municipal Council and two fish traders have been diagnosed with the corona virus and travel restrictions have been imposed in three areas.

A spokesperson for the Kurunegala MOH office told the Hiru news team that travel restrictions have been imposed on Wilgoda, Ammankovila and Galwala areas coming under the Kurunegala Municipal Council.
Hiru regional correspondent Pushpakumara Jayaratne stated that shops in Kurunegala have also been closed due to the prevailing situation and the city is now deserted.

Brandix Koggala employee infected
Meanwhile, an employee of a Brandix garment factory in the Koggala Free Trade Zone was diagnosed with the coronavirus and 125 close associates of the employee were referred for PCR testing. The garment worker was also the driver of the bus traveling from Rathgama to the Koggala garment factory. The employee had arrived at the Maha Modara Hospital in Galle with another employee to receive treatment for a recent illness, where they were administered a random PCR test. Their reports were received yesterday (29) afternoon, which confirmed that one of the workers was infected with the coronavirus.

Board of Investment - over 26,500 PCR test, 423 test positive
Meanwhile, the Board of Investment announced that from the 8th to the 28th of this month, more than 26,500 PCR tests have been conducted only in factories operating under the Board of Investment.

A statement issued by them stated that 423 infected persons have been identified and 411 of them have been identified from the Katunayake Investment Promotion Zone.

Galle
21 close associates of a resident of the Thelikada-Horagampitiya area in Galle has been quarantined after it was confirmed that he was infected with the corona virus. Police stated that there are four monks among them. The infected person had gone to the Aluthgama area and conducted a marketing campaign for fish traders, where he is suspected to have contracted the virus. The company where he worked has been operating in the Akmeemana-Pinnaduwa area and its owner and three employees have also been quarantined.

Meanwhile, PCR tests carried out in the Uragasmanhandiya area in Galle have identified four more coronavirus infected people who had bought fish from the Peliyagoda fish market. 

Two PHI's infected


Two public health inspectors at the Jinthupitiya Medical Officer of Health office in the Colombo Municipal Council who carried out the coronavirus eradication operation were also diagnosed with the virus.

Police - 43 officers in WP infected
The number of police officers in the Colombo Crimes Division infected with the corona virus has increased to 16. The office of the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province stated that 43 officers attached to the police stations in the province have become infected.

29 in company infected 
Eighty employees of a private company on the Kaduwela - Navagamuwa - Wekkawatta road were quarantined on the spot after it was confirmed that 29 of them had contracted coronavirus.

Kuliyapitiya HQI police officer infected  
Meanwhile, eight new cases were reported from the Kuliyapitiya Medical Officer of Health Division today (30) and the total number of cases reported from the area rose to 72. Kuliyapitiya Medical Officer of Health Uthpala Sankalpa stated that two of the eight new cases reported today are police officers and the wife of one of the officers is attached to the Kuliyapitiya Police Headquarters.
Due to this PCR investigations were carried out on all members of the Kuliyapitiya Police Headquarters today.

Travel restrictions to Pundaluoya
Access to the Pudaluoya town has been restricted due to the presence of several corona infected patients in the Talawakele - Pudaluoya, Watagoda and Kotmale areas.

Coronavirus at Colombo Remand Prison
Meanwhile, a sergeant at the Colombo Remand Prison has also been infected with the corona virus. The Prisons Department stated that the relevant sergeant had not returned to duty since the 24th of this month. He is a resident of Narahenpita area. Another person who worked with him in the remand prison has been referred for quarantine after it was confirmed that he was infected.

Delay in obtaining PCR results
Editor of the Government Medical Officers' Association Dr. Haritha Aluthge stated that there is still a delay in obtaining the results of the tests. Journalists also questioned Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath at a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau this afternoon (30) regarding reports from various parts of the country that there is a delay in the hospitalization of coronavirus infected patients.

He explained the process of managing patients and requested the public to provide information on such issues to the 1999 hotline. However, the media spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara stated that at present there are more than 630 beds in the ICUs island wide and that at present only four patients are being treated in the ICU treatment units.
