Fans in Pakistan passionately celebrated their senior national team's 10-wicket win over India in the T20 World Cup 2021 match on Sunday. At the Dubai International Stadium, even as the fans in green shirts were rejoicing the historic victory, Babar Azam's father was in tears of joy.

Surrounded by fans who were congratulating him, Babar Azam's father was filled with emotions after Pakistan registered their first-ever win over India in a World Cup match. In a video shared by Pakistani journalist Mazher Arshad, Babar's father, who is at the stadium, can be seen struggling to control his tears of happiness.

All that Babar touched turned into gold on Sunday as the Pakistan skipper won the toss and sent India in to bat on Sunday. He marshaled his troops well on the field as young pace sensation Shaheen Afridi removed the highly-rated Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, early in the powerplay and left the team reeling at 31/3 in the powerplay.

Babar was spot on with his bowling changes and Pakistan showcased they were up for the fight with a disciplined effort on the field. Despite a Virat Kohli fifty, India managed just 151/7 in 20 overs.

In response, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan came up with a chasing masterclass as the former champions cruised to the target in just 17.5 overs without losing a wicket. Babar remained unbeaten on 68 while his opening partner Mohammad Rizwan hit 79 not out to script a dominant win over their arch-rivals.

Pakistan will next face New Zealand in their Super 12 contest on Wednesday in Dubai.

Speaking after Pakistan's big win over India, Babar urged his teammates not to get over excited and focus on the task in hand when they take on Kane Williamson's formidable New Zealand side.

"We can't afford to relax after this. Be it bowling, batting or fielding, we have to give our 100 percent. As a team, we have won. We will enjoy it with our families, but we shouldn't get overexcited. Please, I am requesting you all. We can't afford to lose our focus," Babar said.
