Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama says he is satisfied with the response of the Pakistani authorities to the assassination of Sri Lankan factory manager Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana.

He also stressed that the incident would not affect the friendly relations between the two countries.

A group of leaders of the Pakistani government of Imran Khan visited the Sri Lankan High Commission today (06) and expressed their condolences over the incident.

However, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner has said that such incidents cannot be underestimated.

Pakistani media reported that the High Commissioner had said that the incident was not aimed at our country, religion or race.

There he described it as an isolated incident.

He also recalled the arrest of several suspects in connection with the murder and the initiation of legal action.

High Commissioner Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama has stated that Sri Lanka-Pakistan relations date back to the time of independence and that Pakistan has always supported Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner said that the government of Pakistan was currently in discussion to pay compensation to the family members of Priyantha Kumar and hoped that the government of Pakistan would take action in this regard in a just manner.
