The United Alliance of Water Supply Trade Unions says that they are going on a one-day token strike today based on several issues including the governments tax policy.
Its co-convener, Upali Ratnayake, said that despite the strike, the work at the pumping stations will continue as usual.
However, he stated that employees will refrain from maintenance work.
