In a tragic turn of events, a 35-year-old man hailing from Tirupati experienced a heart attack and passed away following India’s heart-wrenching defeat against Australia in the World Cup 2023 final on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Jyotish Kumar Yadav, was employed as a software engineer in Bengaluru and had returned home for the Diwali holidays.
According to the Times of India, Jyotish was watching the IND vs AUS match on TV in the company of friends and family. Subsequently, he complained of chest pain and suddenly collapsed. Despite being swiftly transported to the Venkateshwara Ramnarain Ruia government hospital in Tirupati, doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
According to Jyotish’s friends, he exhibited signs of tension and anxiety as India set a target of 240 after batting first. Although he experienced some relief when Indian bowlers claimed three early wickets, his joy turned to apprehension as Australia approached the modest target. It was at the moment Australia secured their sixth WC title at the Narendra Modi Stadium that Jyotish complained of chest pain and collapsed. Reportedly, he was scheduled to get married soon.
Mohit Reddy, Chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA), visited Jyotish’s residence at Durgasamudram village on Monday to extend his condolences. He also offered comprehensive support to the family on behalf of the state government.
