In anticipation of the upcoming festive season, the Consumer Affairs Authority has announced a special program scheduled to run from the 30th of December to the 15th of January. The initiative aims to ensure an uninterrupted supply of consumer goods, preventing shortages during the celebratory period.
As part of this program, imported sugar, taxed at 25 cents, has commenced distribution to consumers through Sathosa and supermarkets. The maximum retail price for sugar has been set at 275 rupees, facilitating affordability for the public.
