Sri Lanka's captain, Dhananjaya de Silva, has surged in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings following his outstanding performance in the first Test against Bangladesh, where he was named Player of the Match.

De Silva's remarkable feat of scoring twin centuries in Sylhet has propelled him to a new career-high rating in the updated rankings for Test batters. The skipper has soared an impressive 15 places to reach the 14th position overall, accumulating a personal best of 695 rating points. He now stands just 40 points away from breaking into the top 10 Test batters globally.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis also left a mark with his twin centuries in the same Test, earning him a spot in the rankings for Test batters. Making just his second Test appearance, Mendis entered the rankings in an impressive equal 64th place.

In the bowling department, Sri Lanka saw notable improvements in the rankings for Test bowlers. Kasun Rajitha, the right-arm quick, rose six places to claim the 38th spot overall after his five-wicket haul in the second innings against Bangladesh. Additionally, Vishwa Fernando climbed seven spots to 43rd, while Lahiru Kumara moved up six spots to an equal 46th position.

At the top of the rankings, India's duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin continue to dominate the Test rankings for all-rounders. Among the notable movers this week, Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan rose one place to 14th, while Dhananjaya de Silva climbed five spots to equal 25th in the all-rounder rankings.
