The Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act, has presented the Annual Economic Review 2023 and the Financial Statements and Operations of the Central Bank 2023, to President and Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies, Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Annual Economic Review (AER) comprises three comprehensive chapters:

Macroeconomic Analysis: This chapter delves into macroeconomic developments and the condition of the financial system, providing insights into the economy's health.

Central Bank Policies Review: Offering an in-depth review of Central Bank policies, including the monetary policy framework, stance, measures, external sector policies, and financial sector policy measures.

Macroeconomic Outlook: Providing a forward-looking perspective on the global economic environment and the domestic economy, helping stakeholders anticipate future trends and challenges.

Moreover, the AER features seven box articles on topical themes, shedding light on critical issues impacting the economy. Additionally, it includes a box article outlining major economic policy measures implemented by or related to the Central Bank.

The report also boasts Statistical Appendix tables, offering selected annual data for the last 5 to 10 years, providing valuable historical context. Furthermore, a Special Statistical Appendix presents selected annual data since 1970, offering a deeper understanding of long-term trends and patterns.

In line with modern practices, the AER is not limited to print but also includes an online version of the Statistical Appendix and the Special Statistical Appendix. These versions, available in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format in all three languages, offer additional historical data for thorough analysis.

The Financial Statements and Operations report for the year 2023, comprises of five comprehensive sections aimed at providing detailed insights into its financial performance and operational activities.

Section 1: Financial Statements
This section presents the financial statements of the Central Bank, including a concise financial review, the report of the Auditor General, and statements of financial position, income, and cash flows.

Section 2: Operational Details
Covering the operations of the Central Bank throughout 2023, this section elaborates on key topics such as maintaining domestic price stability, ensuring financial system stability, promoting a progressive and inclusive financial system, managing currency operations, international engagements, agency functions, and other entrusted responsibilities.

Section 3: Internal Management Functions
Explaining the internal management functions of the Central Bank, this section sheds light on essential aspects such as risk management, compliance, internal audit, human capital, and general administration, providing insights into the institution's organizational structure and operational mechanisms.

Section 4: Governance Structure
This section provides information on the Board members, Board sub-committees, principal officers, and other committees of the Central Bank, offering transparency regarding the governance framework and decision-making processes within the institution.

Section 5: Additional Information
Presenting supplementary information, this section covers publications and data dissemination, regional offices, institutions regulated and supervised by the Central Bank, and corporate information, offering stakeholders a comprehensive overview of the Central Bank's role and reach in Sri Lanka's financial landscape.
