A delegation headed by President Mahinda Rajapakse left for Japan last night on a four day official tour.

The President is scheduled to conduct bi-lateral talks with Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe and government officials today.

The visit is being conducted on an invitation extended by the government of Japan.

Several bilateral agreements are to be signed.

The presidential media sources say the Sri Lankan delegation is also expected to conduct talks with the Japanese business community.

Japan and Sri Lanka mark the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, this year.
